President Donald Trump made a last-minute push on Tuesday for Republican House candidate Troy Balderson as voters head to the polls in Ohio’s 12th Congressional District.
In an early morning tweet, the president appealed to the district’s voters to elect Balderson over Democrat Danny O’Connor in Tuesday’s special election. While not mentioning O’Connor by name, Trump clamed Balderson’s "opponent" is controlled by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, is weak on crime, the border, the military, veterans and the Second Amendment.
The GOP has been scurrying to try to save the House seat vacated when Republican Pat Tiberi retired. Trump personally stumped for Balderson during an Ohio rally on Saturday.
An Emerson College survey released on Monday showed Balderson and O’Connor in a dead heat.
