Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez on Friday jabbed back at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's tweet that posed a "no-brainer" choice to reach a government-funding deal — thanking the Kentucky Republican for his "ransom note."

In his tweet, McConnell said Democrats had a "choice to make:"

Democrats have insisted a DACA fix be part of the funding bill.

Perez responded in his slap-back tweet:

Republicans and Democrats have been haggling for weeks on a must-pass bill to fund the government — or trigger a shutdown at midnight Friday when funding runs out. A flurry of activity Friday included a sit-down between Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and President Donald Trump.

No deal was reached, however, by late Friday afternoon as the clock to a midnight shutdown kept ticking.
