Thomas Homan, the retiring director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said although Friday is his last day on the job, he will continue to push back against those who object to ICE’s work.
"I’m not leaving this fight," Homan said Friday on "Fox & Friends."
"As a civilian, I can say a lot more than I can as a federal employee," he added.
Homan commented on lawmakers who have called on ICE to be abolished, such as Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand. D-N.Y., on Friday. "ICE took 5,000 criminal aliens off the street in New York, that walked out of her sanctuary jails that she supports,” Homan said.
"These people want to make judgments about ICE. We are enforcing the laws that they enacted," Homan said in the “Fox & Friends” interview.
President Donald Trump has done more for the security of the U.S. than any of the six presidents Homan has worked under, the retiring director said in the interview.
