Republican activist Michael Cloud has won the right to replace former Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, in Congress.
With 89 percent of precincts reporting, Cloud led the field of 9 candidates with 54.2 percent of the vote, The Hill reported.
Cloud is a member of the Texas Republican Party’s central committee, and a former chairman of Victoria County’s Republican Party. He owns a small media production and public relations firm, the report said.
When Congress returns from its July 4 recess, Cloud will begin serving out the rest of Farenthold’s term, the report noted.
Farenthold resigned in April after multiple allegations of sexual harassment and ethical concerns.
