One month after refusing to answer whether he would serve a full term if re-elected, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, now says he will stay for the full six years.
Cruz told ABC News in an interview over the weekend that he would “absolutely” serve a full term if re-elected to the senate.
Last month in an interview with the Texas Tribune Cruz declined to pledge to stay in the senate for the entire length of his term. His Democratic opponent, Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke, has already said that he would.
"I will commit to serving every single day of my full six-year term for the people of Texas," O'Rourke said in September.
"I am focused on the United States Senate," he said when asked, before talking about a proposal before the Texas Board of Education.
The Tribune noted that Cruz “went on for two minutes” without answering the question.
