Tea Party Attacks Rosenstein in Ad

A group connected to the Tea Party Patriots has released a TV ad slamming Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for "incompetence and abuse of power" and demands he "do his job or resign."

The 30-second spot created by the nonprofit Tea Party Patriots Action cost $100,000 and will air online and on TV stations in the Washington, D.C., market the week.

In the ad, a narrator says: "Rod Rosenstein, a weak careerist at the Justice Department protecting liberal Obama holdovers and the deep state instead of following the rule of law."

Jenny Beth Martin, founder of Tea Party Patriots Action, said in a statement:

"On behalf of our nationwide network of over 3 million supporters, we call on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to stop protecting Obama holdovers and Deep State bureaucrats who are politicizing the Department of Justice and FBI, or resign.

"Rod Rosenstein’s stonewalling and failure to cooperate with legitimate congressional oversight have damaged the credibility of important institutions and undermined critical congressional investigations seeking the truth about the politicization of our national security agencies.

"Our message to Mr. Rosenstein is simple: Do your job and uphold the rule of law or resign from office immediately."

Rosenstein, a Republican, has been under fire in recent weeks as supporters of President Donald Trump attempt to discredit the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is probing Russia’s interference with the 2016 presidential race and whether the Trump campaign was involved.

He was mentioned in a controversial memo written by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes as having signed off on reauthorizations for wiretaps of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
