Democrat Tabitha Isner, who is running for a House seat from Alabama, is claiming Russians attempted to hack her campaign website more than a thousand times last month, Business Insider is reporting.

Isner said there had been more than 1,400 attempts to break into her website and about 1,100 were traceable back to Russia, according to Business Insider.

She is attempting to unseat Republican Martha Roby in Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District.

Isner said she became aware of the hacking attempts after the web hosting company she was using alerted her to an increase in traffic and recommended an upgrade to avoid the campaign website crashing.

"I was pretty surprised by that because I had bought enough bandwidth, enough hosting power, that it shouldn't be an issue," Isner said. "I knew something was up and I had my web administrator go look into it."

Her campaign web administrator, Kristopher Vilamaa, investigated and discovered a large number of Russian IP addresses had been successfully blocked. Other attempts to hack the website came from Ukraine and Kazakhstan, Business Insider reported.

"Many, if not most, of the visits from Russian IPs that got blocked were trying to access the login page that gets you into the backend of the website," Vilamaa told Business Insider.

Most of the attempts occurred on July 17 and 18, Business Insider reported.

Isner claimed she reported the incidents to the FBI office in Mobile, Alabama.

"I was disappointed in the lack of attention it was given," Isner said.

And Isner maintained she has received very little help from the Democratic Party.

"I think candidates are left to their own devices,” she said. “We get very little help, either from the state or national party."

Just last week, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats warned Russia was still meddling in U.S. elections.

"We continue to see a pervasive messaging campaign by Russia to try to weaken and divide the United States," Coats said at a White House briefing with other U.S. intelligence officials.
