Congressional Democrats plan to keep up the pressure against President Donald Trump’s executive order banning immigrants from predominantly Muslim countries from entering the country by holding a rally on Monday evening on the steps of the Supreme Court, Politico reported.

Democrats have been vehemently protesting Trump’s order since it was signed on Friday. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has been leading the way, issuing several tweets on Saturday and then appearing at a rally in Manhattan’s Battery Park, where he said he would introduce legislation to repeal the order, the New York Daily News reported.

"These orders go against what America has always been about," Schumer said. "The orders make us less humanitarian, less safe, less American and when it comes to making us less safe people forget this, that's why so many of our military, intelligence, security, and law enforcement leaders are opposed to this order and all those like it."

Schumer, along with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, will also lead Sunday’s demonstration at the Supreme Court, which will occur as both houses of Congress are scheduled to be in session.

In encouraging congressmen to attend the protest, Pelosi wrote that “We are witnessing an historic injustice unfold, and we must keep the pressure on,” Politico reported.

The demonstrators will reportedly conduct a candlelight vigil, which will also include members of the refugee community.

Trump’s order has also been criticized by some Republicans. Sen. John McCain told CBS’s Face The Nation that “the effect will probably, in some areas, give ISIS some more propaganda.”

McCain also lamented confusion surrounding the order, saying “published reports are that neither the Department of Homeland Security or the Justice Department or others were consulted about this before this decision was made.”
