After several days of back and forth with House Republicans that involved making tweaks to the healthcare bill, President Donald Trump "drew the line" and said the bill needs to be debated and voted on as is.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Friday the president had essentially done all he could to lobby for the American Health Care Act, House Republicans' Obamacare replacement bill.
"At some point you have listened to everybody. You've gotten all other ideas," Spicer said. "You have gone back and forth, incorporated them, assuaged them in some way, shape, or form, updated the bill and a lot of times, it is the same people coming back over and over again.
"That is when the president finally drew the line to say we've had the discussion, we had the meetings, and we have done everything possible to address the concerns and ideas and opinions that people have brought up. I don't think you can say it any simpler."
The House was slated to vote on the bill Friday afternoon despite reports that said it did not have enough support to pass and make its way over to the Senate.
"I think [Trump] has done every single thing possible, and you end up at some point finding yourself going around and around and saying, hey, let's call the vote," Spicer said.
