While President Donald Trump holds a 10-point lead in South Carolina, he is virtually tied in North Carolina and Georgia, two important battleground states, according to the latest CBS News/YouGov poll.
The poll results in the three southern states:
- Trump leads Biden, 52% to 42%, in South Carolina.
- Trump leads Biden, 47% to 46%, in Georgia.
- Biden leads Trump, 48% to 46%, in North Carolina.
The latter two are statistical ties because they lie within the polls' margins of error.
It is also noteworthy that Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., is locked in a virtual tie with Democrat Jaime Harrison, leading by just 1 point, 45% to 44%.
The CBS News polls were conducted by YouGov from Sept. 22-25 among 1,164 registered voters in Georgia, 1,213 in North Carolina, and 1,080 in South Carolina. The margins of error are plus or minus 3.3 percentage points, 3.6 points, and 3.8 points, respectively.
