A Donald Trump win will mean the end of Paul Ryan's time as House speaker, Fox News' Sean Hannity said Tuesday.

"He's not going to be the speaker," Hannity said during the news channel's election night coverage.

Hannity has long been a Trump supporter and critic of Republicans, like Ryan, who have been cool to Trump's nomination. Ryan was slow to give his endorsement of Trump, and even after the real estate mogul secured the GOP nomination has been critical of some of his more controversial comments.

Hannity attributed Trump's surprising showing on Tuesday to "the establishment on both sides lost touch with the real lives of real Americans."

A win won't stop establishment Republicans from opposing him, Hannity said.

Republican strategist Karl Rove was critical of Hannity, saying, "If I were Sean Hannity, I would not be recommending if Trump wins the first thing he does is pick a fight with the House of Representatives and try to get Paul Ryan out."

Ryan, he said, is one of the big reasons Trump carried Wisconsin. "A newly elected president does not need to open up a civil war with the legislative branch of his party."
