Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker told Newsmax TV it is important that neither candidate declare they won the state of Wisconsin.
During a Wednesday appearance on Newsmax TV’s “John Bachman Now,” Walker said President Donald Trump’s campaign is within its legal rights to ask for a recount. He also noted the state must conduct its canvassing procedures, which could change the election results.
“A lot can happen during this canvass process,” he said. “And it’s so close, anything could make the difference.”
Walker recalled a canvass of a state Supreme Court election that flipped the winner of an election. He said the incumbent was down 204 votes on election night and by the time the canvassing board completed its review, the incumbent won by 7,000 votes.
He said every vote that was “legally cast” should be counted.
Walker also shared his predictions for other states. He said he thinks there is a chance that Trump could still take the state of Arizona. He said he knew the president would win Florida and Ohio.
He forecasts Trump will also win North Carolina and Georgia as well as Pennsylvania.
“As I’ve said all along, it will boil down to the Big Ten,” Walker said, referencing the college football conference. “That’s Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.”
He said with “really close margins” in Michigan and Wisconsin, the election isn’t “done yet by any means.”
Walker called it “remarkable” that the race is so close in Wisconsin because liberal cities like Madison had very strong voter turnout. He said the Trump campaign’s decision to spend a lot of time in more industrial and suburban areas of the state made the election extremely contested.
“There’s still hope that he could pull off a last minute win here,” he said.
