Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is helping Vice President Mike Pence prepare for the upcoming vice presidential debate, The Washington Post reports.
According to two sources familiar with the debate practice sessions, Walker is helping Pence ahead of the Oct. 7 debate with former Vice President Joe Biden’s running mate Sen. Kamala Harris.
Walker helped Pence get ready for the 2016 debate where he took on Sen. Tim Kaine. But he wouldn’t confirm whether he was assisting this time around.
“All I can say is that I worked with him four years ago and was happy to help,” Walker told the Post on Thursday. “That’s it.”
One of the people in the loop with Pence’s prep work said several debate-related meetings were scheduled to take place on Thursday.
Sources told the newspaper that Walker became friendly with Pence when they both served as governors in the Midwest.
Pence and Harris are scheduled to debate once, on Oct. 7, at the University of Utah. USA Today Washington bureau chief Susan Page will serve as the moderator in the 90-minute debate.
