Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci — a Republican who has now become an ardent critic of President Donald Trump — reportedly said at a Joe Biden campaign event that Trump would lose in 2020.
According to the Washington Examiner, Scaramucci appeared at the Blue Dream Gala, a Democratic fundraiser hosted by the Greek Orthodox Church in the wealthy Long Island, N.Y., enclave of the Hamptons, and said Trump would lose the next election.
But he told the Examiner his appearance at the fundraiser shouldn’t be interpreted as support for the former vice president.
“I'm a registered Republican. I haven't switched my support to Vice President Biden, but I will be working to find a nominee to challenge Donald Trump because he's lost his mind and we've got to get someone here before we lose the election 2020,” Scaramucci told the Examiner.
Scaramucci, who exited his White House post after just 11 days, earlier in August praised Trump for his handling of the trade war with China, but has more recently ramped up criticism, calling Trump “crazy” and “narcissistic.”
