Special counsel Robert Mueller is "pushing to wrap up a significant portion of his investigative work by the end of summer," according The Washington Post's sources.
Mueller's latest indictments Friday constructed the case Russian officers hacked the DNC, leaving the questions remaining of whether there were any Trump campaign ties or whether President Trump might have attempted to obstruct justice.
"It's standard practice to start at the outside of the misconduct and work toward the center," Obama administration official David Kris told the Post. "Depending on what other evidence Mueller has, it might start to look like the walls are starting to close in on the president and his closest associates."
Factors that will determine the end date of Mueller's work include the still pending decision on President Trump testifying and interviewing more witnesses tied to those other two prongs of the probe, according to the report.
"In our justice system, everyone who's charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty," Rosenstein said. "It should go without saying that people who are not charged with a crime also are presumed innocent."
Mueller's latest tallies are 32 people charged, 26 of them Russians, according to the Post.
A subpoena of the president could lead to a protracted legal battle, something Mueller might want to avoid, the Post reported.
