Rudy Giuliani, who has been helping prepare President Donald Trump for the first presidential debate, said Tuesday the advice he's given him is "confidential," but "it's obvious" that he'll emphasize that the White House shouldn't change hands while the nation's recovery is happening.

"We are roaring back and in some areas, we are three-quarters of the way back," the president's attorney and former New York City mayor, said on Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "All the signs are (there) that we're going to keep moving forward with the economy."

He added that the unemployment rate is between 8% and 9%, and said Trump has "really brought it back."

"You don't want to change to a left-wing philosophy now," said Giuliani, adding that if Democrat nominee Joe Biden is elected, he will "crash the economy" through higher taxes.

Meanwhile, there is a difference between prepping Trump for his debate with Biden and with Hillary Clinton in 2016, said Giuliani, there is a "difference between debating a man and a woman."

"I think Biden is a nasty enough guy that you don't have to worry about being careful with him," said Giuliani. "He said terrible things about the president. So the president has every right to take his head off if he wants. I think this is a great opportunity for the president to really just be himself. He doesn't have to hold back very much."

Trump is also "much better prepared than he was four years ago" because he has a debate every day by answering reporters' questions, said Giuliani.

But the media will proclaim Biden the winner all the same, said the former mayor.

"If he falls down they will say he did it on purpose to get him off his stride," he said. "If he blanks out they will say that will be very effective against Putin ... they may have said Clinton won those debates but she lost the election, and I knew she lost every one of those debates."
