Bill Armistead, the campaign manager for Alabama's GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, said the campaign now has the backing of the National Rifle Association, The Washington Times reports.
Armistead said the gun rights organization had supported Sen. Luther Strange during the GOP primary, but is now fully behind Moore.
"Early on the NRA you know, supported our opponent Luther Strange, but then … we met with them and they are on board with us now," Armistead told the Times.
Jennifer Baker, a spokesperson for the NRA, said the group had not yet released its candidate ratings. She said it is not unusual for that to happen closer to the election.
Moore is facing Democrat Doug Jones in the Dec. 12 election.
Moore has been accused of sexual misconduct by several women, NBC News reported. He has blamed the "malicious" allegations against him on liberals, socialists and the LGBTQ community, the network news reported.
