The Democratic candidates most likely will turn quickly on former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick and his newly launched presidential campaign because of his work with the private investment firm Bain Capital, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said Friday.
"There is nothing Democrats demonize more than business experience," McDaniel told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "They seem to love lifelong politicians, people who have never created a job or done anything to enhance the economy in this country, so I think it's going to turn on him pretty quickly."
However, with the Democratic field expanding to include Patrick, and potentially, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, "for me, it's just heaven," said McDaniel.
"This field just keeps expanding because their field is so weak and they recognize they are going against a president who has brought more jobs to this country, increased wages and has done so many good things for the American people," said McDaniel. "They are scrambling right now."
McDaniel also accused Democrats of "grasping at straws" through their push to impeach President Donald Trump.
"The first hearing we heard witnesses who had hearsay of hearsay, of hearsay," McDaniel said, adding that with Friday's testimony from recalled Ukraine ambassador Marie Yovanovitch, statements will be made by someone who was not present when the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zalenskiy that sparked the impeachment inquiry took place.
"I would love to hear about her experience with Burisma and Hunter Biden because she was there when he was serving on the board, making $80,000 a month. I would love to hear her talk about how President (Barack) Obama gave no lethal aid to Ukraine...those are things I would love to hear Republicans ask her about."
The proceedings, she added, are "ridiculous" and "shameful" and the American people don't want them.
"Democrats are throwing this in the mix because their Democrat candidates for president are so weak," she said. "This is their only hope of maybe winning back the White House. It's not working."
