Recent polling showing a record-high job disapproval for President Donald Trump shouldn’t overshadow his “astonishing success” in the economy, Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said Sunday.

In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Johnson said “there is only one poll that counts and it’s on Election Day.”

Over the next two months, Republicans just have to point out the success and it's been an astonishing success over the last quarter,”… Johnson said.

“The main number there is the 7.3 percent increase in business investment. It's an extraordinary accomplishment because we are starting to get government out of the way of the private sector and that's how you create prosperity for America,” he added.

Johnson said the Republican Party has to focus on "all the good things this administration has done."

In the first six quarters of this administration, business has increased 6 percent on average,” he said, adding: “It's that business investment that will lay the foundation for strong economic progress, better opportunities for every American. So so we have done a lot of good things.
