Special counsel Robert Mueller may end up sending the White House more questions for President Donald Trump to answer as part of the Russia probe, Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani said Wednesday.
The former New York City mayor spoke with CNN one day after Trump's answers to Mueller's questions were sent to the special counsel's office.
"We'll consider them and answer them if necessary, relevant, and legal," Giuliani told CNN. "If it was something that would be helpful, relevant — not a law school exam."
In terms of the answers that were submitted, Giuliani said nothing of substance was different from what Trump has already said.
"I don't think there's an answer that will surprise them very much," Giuliani said. "None of the answers have changed. Maybe we corrected a date or two. Nothing important changed."
The questions Trump answered for Mueller's probe, which began in May 2017 over allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton, dealt with Trump's time on the campaign trail and during the transition.
Nothing dealing with obstruction of justice, a possibility that was raised after Trump fired FBI director James Comey in May 2017, was included in Mueller's questions. But Giuliani noted that could change.
"It's not on the table, but could be put back on the table," he said.
