RNC Chair: Comey Exposed His 'Questionable' Character

By    |   Sunday, 11 June 2017 10:49 AM EDT

Fired FBI Director James Comey's Senate testimony revealed "how questionable his character is" when he leaked memos chronicling his private meetings with President Donald Trump to The New York Times, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said Sunday.

"It shows how questionable his character is, that he would take conservations thate he had with the president of the United States, which should be protected under executive privilege, and then he gave them to a friend to leak to The New York Times," Ronna Romney McDaniel, the niece of Mitt Romney, told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace.

"I think it's proof the president made the right choice in firing director Comey, and it brings into great question some of the decision-making he made as FBI director."

"I take James Comey's testimony as just his version of events; it's important that we look at it that way," she added.

Romney McDaniel set up a "war room" this week to give a more balanced narrative to the Democrat's opposition to the U.S. president amid the Comey's testimony and obstruction and resistance from the left.

"It's so lopsided out there," she told Wallace. "There's so much distortion. It's important that we're pushing back on the stories that are just fake. And watch James Comey go in front of the Senate, we wanted to make sure it's reported correctly. . . .

"It's up to the RNC to push back. We're going to support the president of the United States. . . .

"We're going to push harder to make sure the American people are hearing a different narrative."

Romney McDaniel's RNC is on to the Democratic "playbook" to cast "doubt" and sow discord on the president and the United States, which is not unlike the Russia meddling campaign the Republican party is accused to have benefitted from. In a bit of irony, the Democrats have adopted the same strategy to weaponizing resistance to the GOP and the president.

"The Democrats have a playbook, Chris, we know it," she told Wallace. "It's resist, obstruct. We've seen them do it at every level.

"Now, it's throw doubt on this administration. Open as many investigations as possible. Cloud the administration as much as possible, because they're trying to run out the clock to 2018. That is their playbook. We know it."
