In an effort to clarify its new rules on debates, the Republican National Committee has set up a boot camp for reporters covering the GOP nominating process, Politico reports.
"We felt we really needed to sit down to do a deep dive with reporters, a lot of whom aren’t aware of the changes or in a lot of cases, this is their first time covering a presidential election," RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer told Politico. "When you look at delegate allocations and how rules have changed that will be a big part of it. If you’re going to cover this election cycle you need to have a real understanding of how delegates are awarded and how the calendar is changed."
The RNC expected young, new reporters familiar with the process to sign up, but Spicer said that some veteran reporters already have sent in their RSVPs. The event will be held in October for about 200 reporters.
