Sen. Sanders: Trump 'Working OT to Sabotage' Healthcare
CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360"

Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday charged that President Donald Trump was "working overtime to sabotage the healthcare that millions of Americans receive."

"The reason that this Republican bill failed is because it is something that was a disaster that the American people overwhelmingly did not want," the Vermont independent and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate told Anderson Cooper on CNN.

"You don't throw 22 million people off of health insurance, raise premiums for older workers, defund Planned Parenthood, cut Medicaid by $800 billion and then give huge tax breaks to large corporations and wealthy people.

"That's the Republican plan."

Trump ripped Democrats for their inaction on the GOP plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, saying he would "let Obamacare fail."

"I'm not going to own it," he told reporters at the White House. "I can tell you that the Republicans are not going to own it.

"We'll let Obamacare fail, and then the Democrats are going to come to us, and they're going to say how do we fix it?" Trump said.

Sanders told Cooper the presidentt did not want to work "to figure out a way to lower the cost of healthcare in America and provide healthcare to all people, take on the pharmaceutical industry, and take on the prescription drugs.

"So what if millions of people suffer?" he said, describing Trump's position. "That's really awful."
