Poll: Moore Leads Jones by 5 Points in Alabama Senate Race

Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore is favored by 48 percent of likely voters in Alabama, while his Democratic opponent Doug Jones has the support of 43 percent, according to a JMC Analytics poll.

Here's are the highlights from the poll of Alabama voters:

  • 29 percent say the allegations of sexual misconduct involving underage women makes them more likely to vote for Moore; 38 percent say less likely and 34 percent say the claims make no difference.
  • 49 percent say Moore is qualified to serve in the Senate, compared to 46 percent who say he is not.
  • 48 percent say Jones is qualified for the Senate, while 40 percent say he is not.
  • 52 percent approve of the job Donald Trump is doing as president, while 43 percent disapprove.

The survey, conducted Monday and Tuesday, polled 650 people. It has a margin of error of 3.8 percentage points.
