No plans are under consideration to scrap the July Democratic Party convention in Milwaukee and replace it with an online convention due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez, in an interview to air Sunday on “Axios on HBO, denied he was even thinking about canceling the convention.

When specifically asked about it during the interview, he replied: “No. We are working with our state and local partners, and I’m confident that we can work a plan that will enable us to have our convention.”

He noted the DNC was talking with public health officials and monitors the situation “every single day.”

He told Axios that he was not contemplating an online convention, where delegates would have to vote remotely.

"We'd have to change the rules," he said. "We're not contemplating rule changes."

Nationwide, the coronavirus has led to a number of events being canceled. The National Basketball Association announced it has suspended its season until further notice after a member of the Utah Jazz preliminarily tested positive for the virus.
