Democratic leaders in Washington complained loudly during last year’s election campaign that Republicans’ use of Super PACs (political action committees) gave them an unfair advantage. The largest donation that traditional PACs can accept from an individual is $5,000, but Super PACs can take as much as they want in soft money from each donor.
To be sure, Pelosi and Reid are asking for donations of only up to $5,000 for House Majority PAC and Majority PAC, which will support Democrats in House and Senate races, respectively.
However, liberal hedge-fund billionaire George Soros already has donated tens of thousands of dollars to House Majority PAC.
