Paul Ryan said Wednesday he is considering a plan to extend current spending levels through April so that the Senate can focus on confirming Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees, the Washington Examiner reported.
"In the Senate, we're beginning to appreciate how much work they have to do to confirm and stand up the new Trump government," Ryan said at a press conference.
"They've got to confirm Cabinet officials, sub-Cabinet officials. There might be a Supreme Court nomination that's going to be occurring."
The continuing resolution would delay the spending debate by a month, the Examiner reported.
Trump is sworn into office Jan. 20.
