Republican lawmakers who ignored President Donald Trump's pleas and refused to vote in favor of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) last week should be booted out of Capitol Hill, Maine Gov. Paul LePage says.
"Any Republican that did not support this effort for fixing the [Affordable Care Act], I think they should lose the next election," LePage told Fox News' Neil Cavuto on Saturday.
"I think the American people elected Donald Trump to bring some change and some reform to this country and if the Republicans in Congress don't realize it, it's time for you go home."
LePage's ire apparently includes Sen. Susan Collins, a moderate Maine Republican, who bucked supporting the AHCA when it was revealed the replacement would end in 14 million people losing health insurance coverage by 2018.
House Republicans yanked a vote on the AHCA on Friday after it was determined it could not pass, despite Trump's weeks-long effort to sell it to GOP lawmakers.
