Sarah Palin compared Britain's vote to leave the European Union to the United States' Declaration of Independence.
In a post on
Facebook, the former Republican vice-presidential nominee said, "The Brexit referendum is akin to our own Declaration of Independence. May that refreshed spirit of sovereignty spread over the pond to America's shores!"
Palin congratulated "smart Brits" for voting in favor of self-reliance. "Good on you for ignoring all the fear-mongering from special-interest globalists who tend to aim for that apocalyptic One World Government that dissolves a nation's self-determination and sovereignty."
She said this move takes power away from the European Union, which she called a "One World Government mini-me."
She then called for Britain to leave the United Nations, too. "May UN shackles be next on the chopping block."
Palin, the former governor of Alaska, has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Donald Trump. Voters in a
Monmouth University poll questioned the success of that idea — 13 percent of voters in the poll said they would be more likely to vote for Trump if Palin ran with him, while 42 percent said they were less likely to vote Republican if Palin was on the ticket.
