Sen. Hatch: Firing Mueller Not in Nation's Best Interest

Sen. Hatch: Firing Mueller Not in Nation's Best Interest

By    |   Thursday, 12 April 2018 01:40 PM EDT

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, said those advising President Trump to fire special counsel Robert Mueller do not have "the nation’s best interest at heart."

Hatch’s comments came in a Thursday tweet.

Earlier on Thursday Trump has slammed a report by The New York Times that he had considered firing Mueller last December and called it "fake news."

Hatch had released a statement last month asking Trump to allow Mueller’s investigation to continue, The Hill noted.

"I know Bob Mueller well and believe him to be a straight shooter, and I continue to believe that giving him the time and support necessary to get to the bottom of things is the best interest of all parties involved," Hatch said.
