Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, a frequent and vocal supporter of the Trump administration's leadership – and a former boss of disgraced ex-White House aide Rob Porter – issued apology letters to Porter's ex-wives.
"It was a sincere apology for pain he may have caused us," Porter's second ex-wife Jennie Willoughby, who alleged domestic abuse, told CNN.
The letter Willoughby received also included explanations on why Hatch's past statements on his former employee Porter seemed to be conflicting, reportedly saying "it's incredibly discouraging to see such a vile attack on such a decent man" and yet Hatch was also reportedly "heartbroken" by the allegations against Porter and added "domestic violence in any form is abhorrent."
Colbie Holderness, Porter's first ex-wife, confirmed having received the letter of apology and explanation from Hatch, too, according to the report.
"I appreciate his apology," Holderness told CNN.
