Obama Fundraising Appeal: 'Only So Much I Can Do on My Own'

President Barack Obama issued an email to supporters Tuesday, seemingly pleading for help to get his legislative agenda back on track.

According to the Weekly Standard, the email went to his former re-election campaign group, Organizing for Action.

"There is only so much I can do on my own. The special interests know it, and they're counting on you to be silent," wrote Obama in a rare fundraising appeal from the president.

Obama lists a number of high profile issues which he says have been hijacked by special interests, including gun violence, jobs, immigration, and climate change, and says, "I know it's easy to get frustrated by the pace of progress."

The president urges supporters to contact their members of Congress during the August recess to make their voices be heard.

"I'm counting on you to be just as vocal — to make sure the agenda that Americans voted for last year is front and center," Obama wrote, asking supporters to commit to doing at least one thing in their community to advance his agenda.
