A National Security Council member and trusted confidant of national security adviser H.R. McMaster is likely to be his new deputy, succeeding the resigning Dina Powell, Axios reported Friday.
Nadia Schadlow has worked the last few months with Powell to draft the Trump administration's National Security Strategy document set to be released soon, the article explained.According to Axios, her views appear to be aligned with those of McMaster and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, who reportedly rely more on soft power and diplomacy than military force to solve problems.
She began her career at the Department of the Army, Breitbart reported, and wound up as the Pentagon’s first desk officer for Ukraine after the fall of the Soviet Union. She later left to work at the Smith-Richardson Foundation, where she researched emerging national security threats, and also wrote for War on the Rocks, a publication focused on foreign policy and national security issues.
