House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., refuted a host on "The View" who said she wanted ex-FBI Director James Comey fired after he shared information about his probe of Hillary Clinton's email server last November.

"Congresswoman, you yourself said that you thought that Comey's behavior was inappropriate, his actions were inappropriate, and that he should be fired," co-host Sunny Hostin told Pelosi on the ABC talk show.

A clip of the remarks was posted onto YouTube.

"No, I never said he should be fired," Pelosi shot back. "What I said was when he — what he did as far as Hillary Clinton was concerned — was he couldn't take the heat for it."

Hostin pressed the point, referring to Pelosi's comments last Nov. 2 in which she said Comey might not be "in the right job."

"I think that we have to just get through this election and just see what the casualties are along the way," she said at that time, seemingly suggesting Comey's job might be on the line if Clinton won.

She said Monday what she meant by the remark was "He wasn't in a job that he couldn't take the heat for it."

"But it was very curious, and I thought that his revealing that investigation but then later coming back — he had an impact on the election. There's no question about that," she added.

"But that's a separate issue from whether the president of the United States asked him to stop an investigation of the Russian connection, of himself."

President Donald Trump fired Comey in May amid the agency's continuing investigation of Russia's meddling in the election and possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

There's a "possibility of obstruction of justice – flirting with it in any event – coming out of the White House," Pelosi asserted.

Comey is set to testify before Congress on Thursday.
