Republicans' changes to the Obamacare repeal bill that is set for a vote this week will only make the situation worse for Americans to get affordable health insurance, said Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
"Republicans' dangerous tweaks to Trumpcare only worsen the crushing costs and cruelty their bill inflicts on millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions and working families everywhere," Pelosi said, referring to the bill proposed by Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Bill Cassidy, R-La., in a Monday statement.
"Americans will face higher health costs, less coverage, key protections gutted, an age tax, and the destruction of Medicaid. Veterans, Americans fighting opioid addiction, and rural communities will still be devastated," Pelosi said in her statement.
Pelosi called on Republicans to join with Democrats in improving health care for Americans.
"No last-minute changes can disguise the fundamentally rotten consequences of Trumpcare. Republicans must stop making a dangerous bill even worse and join Democrats for constructive bipartisan progress to improve and update Americans' health care," Pelosi wrote.
Last-minute updates to the bill were announced late Sunday night, which would give more funding to states such as Alaska, Arizona, and Kentucky, which are represented by opponents of the bill.
