House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi wants to see one of her Republican colleagues resign over allegations he misused campaign funds.

Hours after it was reported Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and his wife were accused of using campaign money to pay for personal expenses, Pelosi issued a statement demanding Hunter step down.

"The charges against Congressman Hunter are further evidence of the rampant culture of corruption among Republicans in Washington today," Pelosi said. "Once again, one of President Trump's earliest supporters in Congress has broken the public trust and abused his position to enrich himself and his family.

"Speaker Ryan must immediately call on Congressman Hunter to resign, and affirm that no one is above the law."

Pelosi added Democrats are working to rid Washington, D.C., of corruption.

Hunter, who was first elected to the House in 2008, has been accused of conspiracy, wire fraud, falsification of records, and other charges, said Adam Braverman, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.

Braverman, in a prepared statement, said a federal grand jury indicted the lawmaker and his wife for misusing more than $250,000 in campaign funds to pay for family vacations, groceries, video games, meals, and other personal expenses.
