House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is demanding Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., be removed as chairman of the intelligence committee, the Washington Examiner is reporting.
In a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., she urged Nunes to be removed because of the controversial memo he authored outlining alleged surveillance abuses by the FBI, according to the website.
"Chairman Nunes' deliberately dishonest actions make him unfit to serve as Chairman, and he must be immediately removed from this position," Pelosi said.
"House Republicans' pattern of obstruction and cover-up to hide the truth about the Trump-Russia scandal represents a threat to our intelligence and our national security. It is long overdue that you, as Speaker, put an end to this charade and hold Chairman Nunes and all congressional Republicans accountable to the oath they have taken to support and defend the Constitution, and protect the American people."
The FBI disputes the accuracy of the memo. In it, the Justice Department is accused of abusing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) guidelines during the probe into former Donald Trump campaign aide Carter Page.
