Newt Gingrich: Mueller Has Nothing Even After McGahn's Cooperation

By    |   Monday, 20 August 2018 09:40 AM

If there was anything to the collusion claims against President Donald Trump and his campaign, special counsel would have taken action by now after speaking with White House counsel Don McGahn, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Monday.

"If you have the top lawyer who has testified openly for 30 hours, I think it says there is nothing there for Mueller, or he already would have done something," Gingrich told Fox News' "Fox and Friends."

"We see no evidence of any kind of collusion, certainly no evidence that the president did anything wrong."

Trump insisted again Sunday that he had authorized McGahn and others to "fully cooperate" with Mueller's probe, striking back at a New York Times story that McGahn "must be a John Dean type 'RAT'" for speaking with Mueller.

"His entire investigation, I think, in terms of why he was picked, is a total bust," said Gingrich.

"If you are the average American, and you have been led by the elite media for two years to believe that there was something terrible here, and it all goes away, I think suddenly Trump looks dramatically more acceptable. Dramatically more plausible."
