Fifty-six percent of Republican voters say Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., should step down as majority leader, according to a Harvard-Harris Poll.
The survey results were reported by The Hill.
Here are the poll highlights:
- 16 percent of those surveyed said they have a favorable view of McConnell, while 52 percent were unfavorable.
- 29 percent of all those polled approve of the job Republicans are doing, while 53 percent of GOP voters approved.
- 39 percent of those surveyed approve of the job Democrats are doing, while 68 percent of Democrats are in favor.
- 39 percent of GOP voters say Republican Congressional leaders represent their views.
- 40 percent of Republican voters say leaders in Congress have views more than liberal than their own.
- 68 percent of GOP voters say Republican Congressional leaders are dividing the Republican party.
- 76 percent say Congressional leaders are out of touch with concerns of the average Republican voter.
The poll, which surveyed of 2,159 registered voters. was conducted Oct. 14-18. The partisan breakdown included 36 percent Democrats, 32 percent Republicans and 28 percent independents.
