Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said it is "almost certain" Republican Roy Moore will face an ethics investigation if Alabama voters elect him to the U.S. Senate in a Dec. 12 special election.
Moore has been accused by two women of trying to have sex with them when they were in their teens and he was in his early 30s.
In an interview broadcast Wednesday night on Fox News Channel's "The Ingraham Angle," McConnell, R-Ky., told host Laura Ingraham the Senate will "deal with the aftermath of the decision the people of Alabama make on Dec.12."
Some senators from both parties have suggested Moore might not be seated should he defeat Democrat Doug Jones.
When Ingraham asked McConnell if that is a possibility, McConnell replied, "I think there is a possibility he will have ethics issue."
"An ethics investigation once he gets here?" Ingrham asked.
"Yeah, I think it's almost certain," McConnell said, adding that how far back such a probe would go would "be up to the [Ethics] Committee."
