Michael Bloomberg's first presidential campaign TV ad bills its candidate as "job creator, leader, problem solver" and refers to President Donald Trump merely as "taking on him," showing his name on Trump Tower but without saying the name.
The ad positions Bloomberg as a billionaire community do-gooder who intends to "make good," billing him as a centrist Democrat who created jobs through Bloomberg News, took over New York City "reeling from 9/11" as a three-term mayor, helping "bring it back from the ashes," adding jobs and affordable housing, and aiding gun control and climate change activism.
"He took on the coal lobby in this administration to protect this planet from climate change, and now he's taking on him – to rebuild the country and the dream that defines us," the ad states.
It adds a platform of raising taxes on the wealthy and reforming public healthcare without removing private insurance.
"Everyone without health insurance can get it, and everyone who likes theirs, keep it," the ads continues.
Bloomberg is a former Republican who has re-registered as a Democrat and has been a prominent billionaire donor for Democratic candidates in recent elections.
He had stayed out of the race when former Vice President Joe Biden entered, but with Biden embroiled in details tied to the impeachment inquiry, Bloomberg has reconsidered running for president.
