Joe Biden said he is praying for President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump after they both tested positive for the coronavirus.

In a brief statement posted to Twitter Friday morning, hours after Trump said he and his wife got sick, Biden said:

"Jill and I send our thoughts to President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a swift recovery. We will continue to pray for the health and safety of the president and his family."

Biden and Trump were on the debate stage together Tuesday night, although they did not get too close to each other because of social distancing regulations during the pandemic.

Trump's positive test came a short time after it was revealed that one of his senior aides, Hope Hicks, also tested positive for COVID-19.
