House Democrats want President Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry to be a "Kavanaugh circus all over again" with their rush to judgment and to bring in witnesses, Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said Tuesday.
"They want to rush the process, have people come forward before they're ready or before they're prepared, so they can try to discredit witnesses," she told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "You're seeing that today."
Her comments came after the Trump administration blocked EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, a Trump donor who had started his diplomatic post in July, from testifying in the House impeachment investigation of Trump's dealings with Ukraine, drawing condemnation from Democrats leading the probe.
Blackburn called on Congress instead to "follow through on an orderly process."
"What the House is doing is another part of their continuation to discredit President Donald Trump and to try to undo the results of the election," Blackburn said. "We know what they're doing, and what we want to do is make certain that due process is provided and that the rule of law is followed."
Meanwhile, Blackburn said she is concerned with Trump's decision to pull troops out of Syria and what it will mean for the Kurdish population.
"One of the things I have concerns with is what will happen to the 2000 ISIS fighters that Turkey is responsible for at that point," Blackburn said. "We have a very large Kurdish population in the Nashville area and when I talk to Tennesseans who have really warmly welcomed this community, they talk about protecting the Kurds."
