Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Newsmax on Monday that the "appropriate action" in response to the fatalities of three U.S. service members in the Middle East is simple and long overdue.
Joining "American Agenda," Blackburn said Iran needs to be held to account for the deaths and the roughly 150 attacks on U.S. service members in the lead-up to the deaths.
"The appropriate action is what we should have done earlier, which is go after Iran," Blackburn said.
Her comments come in response to the drone attack on a U.S base in Jordan on Sunday that killed three soldiers and wounded more than 40 more American service members. Everybody knows that Iran is behind the proxy group responsible, yet the Biden administration continues to show weakness toward the terror state, Blackburn said.
"We know that [Iran] is the one who is funding the proxies, they're training, they're equipping. The missiles, the rockets that their proxies have are all coming from Iran," Blackburn said. "So paying attention to what Iran is doing, sending that message to them. The fact that there were 130 attacks before we decided to do something, it is imperative that we protect our men and women in uniform, that we protect our military that is in the region."
But this is the result of Biden assuming control as commander-in-chief from Donald Trump three years ago, Blackburn said.
"What has happened is people look at this administration and Joe Biden and they see weakness," she added.
And weakness, Blackburn said, foments action among the new axis of evil in the world — Russia, North Korea, China, and Iran.
"They go into overdrive, because they think this is the time that they can hit on the U.S. and the U.S. will not fight back," she said.
