Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore's victory in a Senate GOP runoff this week was a product of people being fed up with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said Thursday.
Meadows appeared on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" and spoke about Moore's Tuesday win over Sen. Luther Strange, R-Ala. Moore will now square off with Democrat Doug Jones in December's special election.
"There's a frustration of … get something done, and so that overwhelming victory for Judge Roy Moore was more a pushback against Mitch McConnell and the fact that they failed on a number of campaign promises to deliver something to the president's desk," Meadows said. "As we look at that, he'll make a good senator.
"I do believe that he'll win in December and ultimately the people of Alabama will have a voice here on Capitol Hill. We need to turn Capitol Hill back to its rightful owner and that's we, the people, and sadly so many times members of the House and Senate forget that."
Meadows added that the people of Alabama were looking for someone to represent their views in Washington, D.C.
"I think Judge Roy Moore is one of those willing to do that, he's shown that over and over," Meadows said.
