Freedom Caucus Chairman Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said Republicans are "very close" on healthcare legislation to finally repeal and replace Obamacare, the Washington Examiner reported.
Meadows told a radio station Monday two options are on the table — he's just waiting to hear back from leadership on which one.
"We're very close," the North Carolina conservative said, according to the Examiner. "The biggest thing for all of us is we want to make sure we don't just have repeal, but we have a replacement that drives down insurance premiums."
Congress is currently in its Easter recess.
Republicans came away empty-handed on their American Health Care Act legislation March 24 when they could not muster enough votes to move it forward.
The fallout since then has pit conservatives against President Donald Trump, moderates against conservatives and conservatives against leadership with shrapnel flying every direction.
Meadows said if a deal is reached, lawmakers might return to Washington early to vote on it, the Examiner reported.
