Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was one of 17 people murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, in 2018, will speak Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention.
Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was also killed in the massacre, will speak at the Republican National Convention next week.
The two speaking engagements show the widely divergent views the Douglas High dads have about the direction of the nation, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
The newspaper said Pollack has been a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, while Guttenberg is backing Joe Biden.
According to the Sentinel, Pollack was part of a group of parents of murdered children invited to the White House after the Stoneman Douglas massacre.
And months after his daughter was killed, Pollack was a featured speaker at the White House Hanukkah celebration.
In a tweet on Tuesday to Michelle Obama, Pollack called Barack Obama’s presidency “a disaster.”
Pollack was active in Rick Scott’s campaign for the Senate in 2018 and also backed Scott’s successor for governor, Ron DeSantis.
Guttenberg has talked about Biden reaching out to him after his daughter was killed. He has campaigned for Democrats, while being an outspoken critic of the president, the Sentinel said.
