New Age author Marianne Williamson met with Democratic activists in Iowa, exploring a potential run for the presidency in 2020, The Guardian reported.

Williamson has written New York Times best-sellers, including "Tears to Triumph," about the "spiritual journey from suffering to enlightenment," The Guardian reported.

Iowa activist Tom Henderson said the author "was just looking into it and not a candidate yet."

The Guardian reported that one source said Williamson took meetings in the Des Moines area and in the rural town of Fairfield, which has a community of transcendental meditation practitioners.

Williamson has run for political office before. In 2014, she finished fourth in a bid for Congress in California’s 33rd congressional district. Former congressman Dennis Kucinich and singer Alanis Morrisette endorsed her in the race, The New York Times reported.

Although other entertainers have been mentioned as candidates, including Oprah Winfrey and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, none have been reported as taking steps toward a run at the presidency.
