Marco Rubio  criticized President Barack Obama and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, along with others from the left, for their quick push for gun control legislation shortly after the on-air shootings of two Virginia journalists.

"None of the laws they're pushing would have done anything about it," the Florida senator and GOP presidential candidate told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program Friday. "The tragedy just happened. Two human beings lost their lives, a third [was] seriously injured, and the first thing they want to talk about is politics."

Story continues below video.

Rubio pointed out that the shooter, Vester Flanagan, passed a background check and was able to purchase a handgun, and if Democrats want to "erase the Second Amendment," they should "be honest and say this is what you want to do."

Flanagan, a disgruntled former reporter who broadcast under the name Bryce Williams, had a "long period of grievances during his time working in Florida," said Rubio, wondering, "how do you spot this before someone goes nuts and does something like this?"

Culture has become more violent, he added, noting that there should be more focus on those societal changes than on guns.

"What is the impact of broken families, broken communities, our country at large?" he said. "That's the fundamental question. By the way, there's not a law to pass to fix that."

Rubio also discussed Clinton's assertion that Republicans are like terrorists when it comes to women's health issues.

"She's desperate, panicked," said Rubio. "Here's what's most offensive — they won't call terrorists 'terrorists.'"

He said he thinks even more similar attacks will come out in weeks to come, as the Clinton campaign is "in trouble that's well documented, maybe criminal charges around the corner."
