Sen. Lindsey Graham Sunday lamented that White House staffers are undercutting efforts to forge a deal on immigration — calling out hard-liner Stephen Miller as a particularly big hindrance, The Hill reported.

In comments ahead of a closed-door negotiation with a bipartisan group of senators, the South Carolina Republican vented his frustration with the White House policy adviser.

"Every time we have a proposal it is only yanked back by staff members,” he said, The Hill reported. “As long as Stephen Miller is in charge of negotiating immigration we're going nowhere.”

“The White House staff, I think, is making it very difficult,” he added.

White House aide Miller was formerly a staffer for Attorney General Jeff Sessions when he was Alabama’s U.S. senator — and has maintained a conservative stance on immigration in his new White Hour role, writing an immigration plan that includes wall funding and a crackdown on sanctuary cities.

It’s not the first time Graham has complained about Miller.

Last week, when President Donald Trump rejected Graham and Democratic Illinois Sen. Dick Durban’s deal to protect recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program — after initially expressing a willingness for such a deal — Graham blamed Miller and Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., for the flip-flop.

“I think the change comes about from people like Mr. Miller,” Graham said at the time, Vox reported.

“Mr. Miller is well-known in the Senate for having views that are outside the mainstream,” adding that the “Stephen Miller approach to immigration has no viability.”
